We started the day with a balance of roughly $595,000 in our paper money account. We are well into our third year managing this portfolio, and have survived a few big corrections, currently sitting near a high in our all-time account value.
This week we managed the U.S. side of our trading. We were forced to say good-bye to our remaining holdings in $XLC on a 6-month relative strength breakdown. While we weren't forced into a liquidation, we are watching $XLRE as the Chaikin Power gauge has fallen to neutral. As a reminder, our rules state that we can not acquire anything with a PG less than Neutral+, and must liquidate anything with a bearish PG. So, with a neutral PG, we do nothing, but are kept from adding to the position. We added five tranches this week. Including $XLE, $XLK, $XLY, $XSW, $XES We are clearly tech and energy heavy, but that is where the relative strength in the market is telling us to be. Watch todays video to see how use Chaikin Analytics alongside our own rules to manage a paper money portfolio of ETF's. This week, our remaining position in $XLV was liquidated along with half of our position in $XLRE and $XLC. All on 3-month breakdowns in relative strength vs our benchmark, the $ACWI While there were a handful of ETFs that met our rules of acquisition, mostly energy ETFs, we suddenly found ourselves fully invested, so this week we sit on our hands. Watch todays video to see how we use our own rules along with the Chaikin Analytics platform to manage a simulated ETF portfolio.
